Announcing Peoples
Gas STEM Clubs for Fall 2019
Audience: Teachers
Grade Levels: 6, 7, 8
Application

- Does a STEM Exhibition stimulate your
6th-8th grade students' interest in science?
- Do you find yourself looking for activities
that spur their imaginations to find research
ideas?
- Would you appreciate the help of a scientist
to improve the quality of your students'
projects?
- Are you willing to invest time after school
to help interested students with their
projects?
If so, consider
sponsoring a Peoples Gas Science Club next fall!
15 participating
schools will receive the following:
- Science Explorers kit with 30 inquiry-based
activities for up to 40 students, worth
$700.
- Find more info about the kits at www.devstu.org/explorers/science/index.html
- Technical assistance on science projects
from a Peoples Gas engineer or scientist
- Coaching stipend of $1,000 for the teacher
club leader
- Extended day pay for a mandatory
after-school orientation meeting in October.
In exchange, club
leaders must commit to the following:
- Advertise the club to middle grade students
school-wide
- Hold weekly club meetings starting in early
October 2019
- Support a club of at least 10 students after
school through January 2020
- Exhibit a science project from each club
member in your school's science fair
- Complete a follow-up survey on your club's
activities and science fair success
